About

 Hi, I'm John Cook.

⭐ Updated About Me (Modern, Honest, and True to Your Current Life)

Life has changed a lot for me recently. Some doors closed, some opened, and some I had to walk away from even when it hurt. Starting over in a new place, rebuilding my routine, and rediscovering who I am outside of past roles has been one of the hardest — and healthiest — decisions I’ve ever made.

Through all of it, I’ve learned the value of peace, simplicity, and letting go of things that were weighing me down. I’m no longer focused on “becoming more” or “achieving more” in the way the world measures success. Instead, I’m learning to live lighter, live honestly, and live with purpose.

My story now is about growth, faith, and real life — not perfection.

It’s about doing the hard things, trusting God through the uncertainty, and choosing a life that feels aligned instead of overwhelming.

One verse continues to anchor me in this season:

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” — Matthew 6:33

I’ve seen this promise play out in ways I never expected. When I finally stopped trying to control everything and put God first, the clarity, peace, and direction I spent years chasing finally started to fall into place.

If you’re in a season of transition, rebuilding, or trying to figure out your next step, I hope my journey reminds you that starting over is not a setback — it’s a beginning. And you’re not walking it alone.

Here’s to new chapters, renewed purpose, and a life that’s simpler, healthier, and guided by faith.

My Journey

My life has taken me through many chapters — some planned, some unexpected, and some that completely reshaped who I am. Through every job, every move, and every challenge, I’ve tried to live with purpose, resilience, and a heart for helping others.

Humble Beginnings

My first job was at Showtime Video in Manila, AR, making $5 an hour. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me responsibility, work ethic, and gratitude. I’m forever thankful to RoseMary for opening that first door.

Custom Communications, LLC

My journey with Custom Communications began in 2009, and during a major rebranding in 2012 I stepped into leadership roles that pushed me to grow fast. I learned business, communication, customer service, and what it truly means to serve a community.

FireTEXT

Today I work with FireTEXT, where I help support emergency communications for fire departments and first responders. Serving the public safety community has always been close to my heart, and FireTEXT continues to be a meaningful part of my story.

Checkers Pizza

In 2020, right in the middle of the Covid pandemic, I took on the challenge of running Checkers Pizza. It was a season of hard work, adaptation, and learning what it means to stay steady through uncertainty.

Bay Fire Department

Firefighting has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I joined Bay Fire Department in 2005 and proudly served for 18 years before retiring in 2023. Firefighting wasn’t just a job — it was a calling, a brotherhood, and a defining part of who I am.

NCR Voyix

My decade with NCR Voyix strengthened my technical skills, customer support experience, and leadership abilities. It was a time of tremendous growth both personally and professionally.

Academic Pursuits

My commitment to public safety led me to study Emergency Medical Services at Arkansas Northeastern College. I later continued my education in computer science at Penn Foster to expand my technical foundation.

⭐ A New Chapter

In 2023–2024, life shifted dramatically.
I made difficult decisions, stepped away from certain environments, and entered a season of deep personal change. I moved to a new place with almost nothing but my essentials, leaving behind pieces of my old life — including the dogs I loved for over eight years, who thankfully found a loving home with family.

Starting over wasn’t easy, but it brought peace I didn’t know I needed.

I'm learning simplicity, rediscovering my faith, and rebuilding a life aligned with who I truly am.

This chapter includes:

  • writing openly about my story
  • rebuilding my routine
  • embracing quiet and clarity
  • stepping into healthier environments
  • focusing on what matters — faith, peace, and purpose

Matthew 6:33 continues to ground me:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

This verse has proven true in every step of this journey.

⭐ Where I Am Now

Today, my life is simpler and more grounded:

  • I continue my work with FireTEXT
  • I write and share my journey through blog posts
  • I build community projects like Arkansas Weather Watchers
  • I help others through court-services technology, Church Hub, and other ventures
  • And I focus on living a life of peace, purpose, and authenticity

This story — the hard parts and the hopeful parts — is still being written.

Thank you for being a part of it.
